How to keep your employees motivated

One of your tasks as an employer, is to motivate your employees in order to achieve the goals you want to reach. It is more important than we may think, because the employees are really essential to help reaching our objectives, they are the ones who do the work you cannot do because they are better in their field, or because you don’t have the time to do it.

So, if you want them to work hard and be efficient, you, as an employer, have to motivate them. If you do this, they will work as a team and the company will reach its goals.

The most important thing to do when it comes to motivation, is to make them believe that they are part of the project, that they are important. If they think that their work is useless, that they are working for nothing, they will not make an effort to succeed, or they may not do it at all. After that, your mission is to make them believe in the project, they have to understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. If you make them realize their value within the group, they will have a huge positive mental attitude, which is one of the most important qualities for an employee.

You have to instil the principles with which you want to define your company such as hard-working, dress code or punctuality. And the best way to do it is by applying these principles yourself. You cannot request your employees to work hard or be punctual if you are not, they will do what they see, you have to be the one that inspires them to act in that way. You have to push them to work harder, but you have to work even harder. If you want to implement a dress code, the first step to become a professional is to look like a professional, what image would you give if you dress with sport clothes every day? Do you think that someone can take you seriously? Besides, you cannot ask them to be punctual if you arrive at the company half an hour late, if you do this, they will arrive late too and think about how they can work less hours.

As a conclusion, I would say that the attitude of your employees is really important, because it is what makes you competitive and successful or not. Try to maintain a good positive mental attitude and motivate them, the best way to do it is by setting a good example of how should they act in your company.
