How to be efficient

In a lot of circumstances, you will be asked to do things in the most efficient way. But before doing that, you need to be efficient yourself. I will try to give you small tips to help you achieve efficiency. Whether you use them in your professional life or in your personal one, those tips can apply to everyone who is trying to improve themselves.

#1 – Always have something to take notes

It is always useful to have a notebook and a pen close to you at any time. When an idea goes through your head, note it down, and think about it later in order not to disturb your current activities.

#2 – Plan your tasks on a daily basis

Start your day by making a “to do” list where you write down all the things you have to do during your day. Give each task on this list a limited time to be done. But always make sure that the list is not too long, otherwise you will be discouraged and you feel like you did not achieve anything.

#3 – Planning is not acting

When organizing your day, do not spend 4 hours doing it because it is a waste of time. Try to be very concise with your to do list, and, if you forgot to put something on your list, you can always write it on your notebook to remember it later.

#4 – Start with the boring stuff

We all have some annoying tasks to do, so why wait until the last minute to do them? Start with what you don’t like to do and do not start any other task until you finish the boring ones. That way, you will do what you enjoy the most before ending your day and you will leave in a good mood.

#5 – Make an outline of your week

Related to tip #2, vaguely planning your week will help you plan each day. This outline will make you organized quicker on a daily basis and avoid wasting some time.

#6 – No social media

The most inefficient thing to do is checking your social media. Because they are time-consuming, social media have to be avoided when you are doing a task. However, you can use social media as a reward for achieving a few tasks. Take a social media break only when you are done with 2 or 3 tasks.

Even though it will be hard at the beginning, you will quickly get used to it and achieve a lot in your life. If you live abiding by those small tips, you will live a better and more fulfilling life. And, on a professional level, this gain of efficiency may get you some attention from your boss and maybe a promotion.
