An original resume is THE key to get hired

Most of the time, when you are invited to an interview by a recruiter, you would bring your resume and your cover letter. In 90% of the cases, your resume will be very classical and not original enough, simply listing last name, first name, picture, study, work experience, hobbys etc.

But this article will give you some tips to improve your resume and stand out from the crowds.

It is true that making a standard resume is the safest and easiest way. Of course, when applying for a job for which there is not a lot of competition, you may use a standard resume. BUT if you are applying for a job where there is a fierce competition, you MUST stand out!

In order to get the job you really want, use your creative skills and try to make your resume the most original possible. Indeed, if your resume is the most original to be handed in, your recruiter will check it first and give a look at its complete content, including your skill sets and experience.

But how can you make a truly original resume?

Break the habit and let your imagination speak. Your resume is ONLY YOURS and has to be unique. Don’t be afraid to try new things in order to stand out! Here is one simple example: turn your experience into a timeline instead of listing it chronologically.

Another example for presenting your skills: instead of simply listing them one after the other, add a star rating from 1 to 5 (or 1 to 10) next to each skill.

There are many ways to improve your CV, the only limit is your IMAGINATION.

So now, muster all your courage and start improving your CV. Don’t be scared and try something new, you don’t have anything to lose but everything to win!

The most important thing to remember is to BE ORIGINAL. Don’t make the same resume as everybody else (last name, first name, picture etc.)!

Your resume has to represent who you really are. So next time, remember what your read here and the job will be yours!
